| Noted 1 | The minutes had been circulated. There were no matters arising. | |||||

| Noted 2 | The 3rd team had won the minor section of the Summer 1998 Welsh KO Plate, the 2nd team the Summer 1998 East Glamorgan Consolation Cup, and the 1st team the open section of the Summer 1999 Welsh KO Plate. | |||||
| Noted 3 | In the East Glamorgan League, the 1st team had comfortable held their 1st division status, the 2nd team had held on in the 2nd division, and the 3rd team had been relegated from the 3rd to the 4th division. | |||||
| Noted 4 | The 1st Barry Chess Club Rapid Play Tournament had been a success and well received by those taking part. | |||||
| Noted 5 | Prospects for the forthcoming season looked rosy with Gareth Morris joining the club and the gain of at least two juniors. | |||||
| Noted 6 | The AGM of the East Glamorgan Chess Association had been held two weeks previously. | |||||
| A proposal changes to team eligibility rules (which would have adversely affected Barry) had been defeated. | ||||||
| Paul Keevil (grading officer) would be introducing a new system to inform him directly of results for grading purposes. To facilitate this K Gandy had designed team captains logs. | ||||||
| A volunteer for EGCA Treasurer was required, as also was a match captain for the EG team. | ||||||

| Agreed 1 | The annual subscription fees would remain unchanged. | |||||
| Agreed 2 | For the 1999 season only, senior members would pay an additional £5 millenium payment for the purchase of chess clocks and other equipment. | |||||
| Agreed 3 | Subscriptions should be
collected before September, and C Woolcock be given a cheque to purchase the equipment at the Swansea Chess Congress in September. (One clock to be engraved as East Glamorgan Consolation Cup Winners 1998.) Action: N Ralphs, C Woolcock |

| Noted 8 | The Barry Town Council had moved their deadline for applications for grants from March to February. In common with other clubs, associations, and societies, the Chess Club had been missed this. | |||||
| Noted 9 | An application for a grant was with the Vale of Glamorgan council but this had yet to be considered. | |||||
| Noted 10 | The club gave a vote of thanks to K Gandy for the organisation and running of the 1st tournament and his continued effort towards the 2nd. | |||||
| Agreed 7 | Dow Corning might be
interested in sponsoring. S White would provide K Gandy with the name of a contact. Action: S White |

| Agreed 8 | The tournament would be run in any event, but without sponsorship the prize fund would have to be cut. | |||||

| Agreed 12 | The 1st and 3rd teams home night should differ from the 2nd and 4th. This matter, that of 3rd team nominations, and that of 4th team captain to be resolved at an informal meeting in a fortnights time. | |||||
| (1)The balance b/forward excluding the rapid play grant is £53.99. There are outstanding liabilities in the balance c/forward which suggest little change in overall position. |
