ADJUDICATION PROCEDURE
A Submission Form
All submissions for adjudication must be on the prescribed form and shall:-
1 Time
reach the adjudication secretary within 14 days of the match;
2 Claim and Claimant etc
indicate
(a) the date of the match,
(b) the name of the claimant,
(c) the nature of the claim,
(d) whether White or Black is to move,
(e) the name and address of the sender;
3 Game Details
comprise
(a) a record of the game,
(b) a diagram of the position with Black at the top of the diagram and showing:
(i) the names of the players,
(ii) the numbers in figures of the pieces on each side,
(iii) all the pieces in block letters with the Black pieces ringed, and;
4 Fee
be accompanied by a fee of £10 (preferably as a cheque made payable to the 'EGCA adjudications').
5 Submission by e-mail
(a) All normal rules apply. ie A copy of the moves and the position MUST be included. This can be sent as a PGN file from a program such as Chessbase, Fritz 6, or Ectool. If these are not available then written notes eg "White rook on c5" etc or use of Forsythe notation will be acceptable.
(b) Players may submit claims by e-mail only if a float has previously been deposited with the adjudication officer.
(c) All email submissions will be ackowledged
B Submission Parties
Submissions shall be made on behalf of both players.
Incorrect Submissions
Incorrect submissions shall be disallowed and the decision awarded in favour of the opposing claimant's submission (if it be correct) without adjudication. If both submissions are incorrect, the adjudication secretary shall inform the executive director (who shall take such action as he thinks fit) and the appropriate pisional secretar
Correct Submissions
Adjudications shall be done entirely using computer chess analysis engines administered
by the adjudication officer. The adjudication officer will provide a report on the
findings to both players. the cost for a lost claim will be £10 - £5 to be retained by
the adjudication officer for administrative expenses, and £5 to be retained in the EGCA
adjudication account to go towards possible appeal fees, and making sure that the programs
used are updated as improvements occur.
ADJUDICATION APPEALS PROCEDURE
1 Parties
Only the original claimants (not third parties) may appeal.
2 No Variation to Claim
Claims may not be changed on appeal.
3 Time Limit, Fee, & Analysis
Where a player wishes to appeal the result he must do so within 10 days at a further cost of £12. Suitable comment and full analysis must back up any appeal.
4 Notice to Opposing Claimant
The appeal analysis will be sent initailly to the opponent who will have a further 7 days in which to lodge counter-analysis at a cost of £12.
5 Appeal Judge's Decision
The full analysis details will then be sent to an appeal judge whose fee shall be £12, whose decision is final, and will be made simply on the basis of the submissions by both players, and the original computer analysis, subject to minor omissions/errors. Where the appellant has not included suitable or sufficient analysis to prove a win or draw, or the opponent has demonstrated that the appellants analysis is substantially incomplete or faulty, the appeal will be lost.
6 Refunded Fees
Player's losing the claim will forfeit all money's paid. Player's who are successful will have all money refunded
