Barry C Take An Early Bath In Chess Knockouts

The record of Barry Chess Club's C team in this year's East Glamorgan Summer Knockout competitions reads as a very sad; 'Played 2, Lost 2'.

Having been defeated by North Cardiff in the first round of the event, the team last week entertained Penarth in the Consolation Cup.

Barry recorded an early win on board 1 and looked to hold reasonable chances on the three other boards of the match but matters went badly astray for the hosts as Penarth slowly but surely picked of their opposite numbers to record a final winning score of 3:1.

Rising early to watch World Cup soccer is proving not to be the ideal preparation for an evening chess match!
